Inspire Inclusion

As all we know, International Women's Day is celebrated across the world on the 8th of March every year.

We do wish women at the workplace, and some wish their mom, grandmother, aunt, and sisters too at the family on that day. Women feel happy and feel so special on that day without any doubt.

But do you think that women are to celebrate only one day in a year? Are they not eligible or capable of being celebrated every year by others in this society, for the work and challenges they face every day and still trying to run their family and take this society to the next level?

I was fortunate enough to be part of the Women's Day celebration at my office today. There were some men guests too participated in the Women's Day celebration event. It is just for the sake of celebration do we invite male employees too? Do all the male employees celebrate and respect their female employees as per their skills and talent rather than gossip at the backs about the female employees? I don't think so. Even some female employees do the same along with male employees at times.

Is that the inclusion we want to appreciate in day-to-day life?

Even at home, it is horrible. We can't even expect any recognition for our talent or household or cooking too at most Indian families. Women don't expect recognition most of the time though they are worth it. They felt that they had done their duty only.

Yes, cooking, taking care of household work, teaching the kids at home, nurturing the kids, taking care of elders in the family, etc. everything is a woman's duty. But it is not only her duty but also men's duty as well.

Women should start self-recognizing and self-appreciate their work every day and voice out for their rights whenever it is denied.

I would like to share a real-life story of one of my friends here.

My friend Geetha has 2 siblings. One elder sister and one younger brother. Geetha's mom Purnima also has a sibling who is younger than her. Purnima's parents are very old and they are 80+ years now.

So far Purnima's father was thinking that Purnima's younger brother will take of them at their old age. They gave good studies for their son. Their son did post-graduation and is doing a good business. But Purnima was able to study till the 8th standard. After her puberty, she was stopped by her grandparents to school when she was young. Days passed by and she got married to her own uncle's son.

Purnima's initial married life was so good and she delivered 3 babies in a year gap.

After that, Purnima's husband had a marital affair and started beating her everyday night with drinking.

Purnima was not bold enough to say this to her parent as they are pretty old and her brother is also not ready to voice out for her. Days passed by and all of Purnima's kids got married and they started to live on their own.

Purnima's old parents are now helpless, and they become so weak health-wise. Purnima's brother did not want to take care of her parents and he got all the properties written in his wife's name. He started to push his old parents out of the house. Purnima stepped out and started supporting her old-age parents. So far, the parents believed that only their son could take care and all the properties were given to their son. Nothing was given to their daughter Purnima.

But without expecting any property Purnima started taking care of her parents in a good way. Even Geetha and her elder sister also started taking care of their grandparents.

Now the old parents realize that girls are affectionate to the family and parents though they get married and go to their husband's home.

They started feeling proud of girl babies now at the age of 80 years.

From this story, I wanted to let the audience know a message that women are empowered and they are given a chance they prove it. Trust the girl babies and give them a good education as we do it for boy babies.

The girl child is the one who cries for their parents first than others. To inspire and celebrate the women who come across in our lives every day.

If a woman grows the society will also grow ideally.

Inspire inclusion every day, every minute, and even every second.
